Hakanson
Anderson
Assoc., Inc.
March 2, 1987
Engineers, Surveyors &
Landscape Architects
Memo to: Mayor Reimann, Ramsey city Council Members
Re: Airport Zoning
At our meeting on February loth, the question was raised whether
Safety Zone B zoning could impair the ability of a homeowner to obtain
homeowner's insurance or whether zoning might result in rate increases
for homeowner's insurance.
I checked the two area insurance agencies of leading insurance com-
panies. Neither carrier had experienced a cancellation or inability
to obtain coverage due specifically to airport zoning. Neither had
either carrier heard of rate increases which would be attributed
directly to zoning.
I then checked with the Minnesota Commissioner of Insurance's offices
to determine if they had ever had occurrances of cancellations or
premium hikes attributed to airport zoning. Mr. Lou Vallenti, Policy
Analyst and Ms. Jean Hogan, Attorney for Enforcement reviewed their
files and found no occurrances of cancellations, refusals to insure or
premium hikes in the State which could be attributed to airport
zoning.
Respectfully submitted,
HAKANSON ANDERSON ASSOCIATES, INC.
Merland J.
