Minnesota Department of Transportation <br />Transportation Building, St. Paul, MN 55155 <br />• <br />February 5, 1990 <br />Honorable Gary Reimann <br />Mayor, City of Ramsey <br />15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W. <br />Ramsey, MN 55303 <br />Subject: City of Ramsey <br />Gateway Airport <br />Airport Development <br />RECEIVED <br />FEB 06 1990 <br />296-8046 <br />Dear Mr. Reimann: <br />In response to your request of February 2, 1990, for clarification <br />of the Department's position regarding Gateway Airport, I offer <br />the following. <br />Let me emphasize that we want to keep Gateway as an airport since <br />we believe it has an important part to play in the entire region. <br />It is not the Department's intent to abandon the airport, but to <br />plan for the future and conceptualize for the ultimate. It is <br />desirable to have crosswind runways on all airports. When it was <br />mentioned that the county was preparing to build a new river <br />crossing and relocate County Road 56 to the west, we felt that <br />the feasibility of a crosswind runway should be investigated.
