H
Applying this methodology to forecast itinerant
activity at Gateway North illustrates a very
'
favorable economic impact to the local economy.
The greatest daily expenditures of of transients
are for car rental, lodging, food and entertain-
ment. Since these services are limited in Ramsey
'
proper, assume that the average daily expenditure
per passenger is $35.00 per day rather than $50.00
per day. Also the average itinerant passenger load
'
is assumed to be 2.5 passengers per operation
rather than 3.2 passengers. The resulting figures
in Table 8 -1 are thus very conservative, but
'
impressive in terms of annual direct impact and
total economic impact.
'
8.2.4. Air Quality
There will be an increase in the use of fossil fuel
'
at airport and this will have some effect on the
air quality. Non -lead fuels are presently avail-
able at the facilities. It is anticipated that the
change in air quality will not be significant.
8.2.5. Water
Quality
The present facilities have a private well and
'
septic tank and disposal system. The proposed
facilities would have a similar system, with a
potential for municipal water and sewer in the
'
future. Oil residues from fuels, lubricants, etc.
will be trapped in reservoirs to be processed and
disposed of separately. It is anticipated that
groundwater quality will not be degraded by the
'
development of the facilities. Other factors in
the area perhaps have had greater impacts on the
water quality. Those factors could be the existing
'
sanitary landfill site and commercial and residen-
tial septic tank effluents.
'
The proposed facilities will be provided with a new
deep well system to insure the high quality of
potable water and septic tank drainfield should
'
public water and sewer not be available.
8.2.6. Historic, Architectural, Archeological and Cultural
'
Resources
There are no recognized or known historic, archi-
tectural, archeological and cultural resources at
'
the proposed site. However, these matters will be
reviewed with the State Historic Preservation
Officer and local officials.
'
8 -6
