An old cemetary exists in the southeast of the
site. The cemetary was not recognized until
recently. The owners of the present airport pro-
perty deeded a one (1) acre parcel to the City to
preserve the site. The site has not been kept up
and is over grown with brush and trees. It is
purposed to cut the trees as a safety measure for
the airport approaches. No construction is pro-
posed on the cemetary site itself. No grave will
be disturbed.
8.2.7. Flora and Fauna
No change in the flora and fauna is anticipated.
During the construction stage, fields will be
opened for excavation and after construction the
areas will be graded to drain and turf will be re-
established.
It is proposed to cut existing trees in the old
cemetary. It is necessary to do so to provide a
needed measure of safety in the approach. Addi-
tional areas will be returned to a natural state as
part of the clear zones and safety zones. Agricul-
tural crops are grown on land east of the present
site. The rest of the area of open land supports
growth of natural or local grasses.
8.2.8. Endangered and Threatened Species
No known endangered and threatened species inhabit
the site of the proposed airport facilities.
■ 8.2.9. Wetlands
' There is an established wetland within 1,000 feet
of the proposed airport site. The wetland is
identified by the number 117 in the Anoka County
Inventory of wetlands. The wetland is about 18
acres on the southwest side of County Road 116. It
continues on the northeast side of County Road 116.
The relocation of County Road 116 will impact the
' wetland #118. The highway will be located on the
southwesterly edge of the wetland.
7
