neighborhood, but the residents of the community, particularly the homeowners whose land is
effected, do not object, once again there is no problem.

Autumn Meadows is a closed addition with one road that serves as entrance and exit to the
neighborhood. This neighborhood of three culdesacs is quiet and peaceful for the residents. In
fact, this is one of the reasons we purchased Jand in this neighborhood, to provide for greater
safety for our children. Our children can travel the streets with little fear of traffic. Adding this
road will disturb the nature of this neighborhood by creating more traffic flow. Our proposal
would limit the new activity to additional bike traffic in the park area.

Acquiring part of our lot is infringing on our private use of the land we purchased. We have
enjoyed the peace and quiet that the privacy and lack of traffic provides. Traffic is presently
focused away from our land with the exit, I67th Avenue, located in the center of the
neighborhood. Under the present conditions, the only traffic that infringes on our home is the
traffic associated with our home and the home of three other families on the culdesac.

The proposed road would take away 80 feet of our land. That's one and a half times an
average residential lot in Minneapolis. The only circumstances that should force a decision to
take away someone's property are those where it is absolutely necessary. We have provided a
viable solution in the proposal we have made, which makes the taking of our land unnecessary.

As I indicated to the Community Development Director, "I'm sure all firefighters would love
straight streets and wide corners," but that is not realistic. If the emergency access road
provides adequate access for the fire equipment to successfully access Autumn Meadows
Addition, then it should be an acceptable solution for our case. I am asking that the City Council
exercise reasonable judgment by approving our proposed solution and allow our community to
retain its quiet and peaceful nature. Allow my wife and me to keep the land we own. Allow an
emergency access only road under the circumstances defined by this case. Let this be a win-
win situation for everybody.

Thank you!

Sincerely, /" .~ ....

," .;' /.kc ' i ' . · .

Mark and Mary Anderson :

-252-

I
I
I
I
I
I
!
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
!
I
