ADOPT ORDINANCE TO REQUIRE BUSINESSES TO OBTAIN <br /> A BUSINESS REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE <br /> Case of City of Ramsey. <br /> By: Megan Wald, Associate Planner <br /> <br />Ca e ,Oq <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City Council introduced an ordinance on April 8, 2003 requiring every business in the City <br />of Ramsey to obtain a certificate that is administered by the Community Development <br />department with review and approval assistance provided by the Fire and Police department. <br /> <br />During the April 8th City Council meeting, City Attorney Goodrich stated that the proposed <br />"Business Tenant Certificate" name really relates to businesses that lease or rent and does not <br />capture the whole business community. Staff was directed to continue to work with the City <br />Attorney to establish a name that would address the intent of the proposed ordinance. <br /> <br />The following is enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />1. Business Registration Certificate Ordinance <br />2. Resolution to amend the 2003 Rates and Charges Fee Schedule <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />Staff and the City Attorney are proposing to name the ordinance Business Registration' <br />Certificate. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The ordinance is now ready for adoption. <br /> <br />The City Council should adopt the attached Resolution amending the 2003 Rates, Charges, and <br />Fees Schedule to establish a fee for the administration of the Business Registration Certificate. <br /> <br />CC: 4.22.03 <br /> <br />-257- <br /> <br /> <br />
