Captain Dwyer noted right now he did not know where this event could be held
Councilmember Dehen stated he did not have an objection to the event as long as all of the
City's costs were covered. He indicated he was not in favor of subsidizing outside vendors.
Council discussed the City's investment, damage to the roads, and the possible City cost for the
go-cart event.
It was the Council's consensus to have staff look into this further, locate a viable spot, and
determine what, if any, cost the City would incur.
Management Intern Hendricks asked if Council would be willing to lower the insurance limits
for the helicopters.
It was the Council's consensus to require the helicopter vendors meet the higher insurance
requirements as previously discussed.
2) Discuss Lease Terms at 6701 and 6745 Highway #10
Deputy City Administrator Nelson reviewed staff's report.
Dennis Sharp, K & K Sharp, LLC, summarized his property statements for 6701 and 6745. He
recommended the City check with the County Assessor as to the discrepancy in the amount of
taxes on the two properties.
It was the Council's consensus to authorize staff to look into this further and to check with the
County Assessor as to why the back portion of the property was higher in taxes than the front
portion of the property.
2) Discuss Business Registration Certificate Program
City Clerk Thieling reviewed staff's report.
Councilmember McGlone stated he objected to the City having this information as he believed it
was an intrusion on privacy.
Mayor Ramsey noted the business and property owners pay a lot of taxes, and he believed the
City should provide this type of service and not have extra fees added.
Councilmember Dehen believed the City should leave the fees as they were and discuss this in
budget talks.
Councilmember Wise agreed he did not want businesses to be "nickel and dimed" and suggested
this be effective at a future date so the City's budget issues could be addressed.
City Council Work Session / Apri127, 2010
Page 2 of 4
