<br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood responded yes, he explained earlier when things were favorable he <br />had a rotating every two to three years where he was adding a restroom and a shelter which was <br />suggested for Riverdale Park and with the grant application he varied the two separate projects <br />with a full service restroom for regional trail users. <br /> <br />Commissioner Olsen asked are we looking at this year to put the proposed trail in along Highway <br />10. <br /> <br />Park Supervisor Riverblood stated he has initiated that process with the Met Council. <br /> <br />City Council authorized the application of these funds by resolution that the Met Council needed <br />to see that the City was committing to the project. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />No action necessary <br /> <br />Case #3 <br /> <br />Consider Self-Serve Canoe and Kayak Access for Sunfish Lake Park <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood invited discussion for purchasing public canoes and kayaks and <br />attendant security system for the existing canoe rack installed at the park. <br /> <br />He explained that a fairly sophisticated system was developed that stands alone, for example for <br />a person to come into City Hall and provide personal information to get a swipe card which <br />allows the person access to the lockers to obtain the canoes and kayaks at Sunfish Lake Park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bennett likes the idea and the uniqueness but would like to see the risks <br />associated with it followed up on. <br /> <br />Park Supervisor Riverblood stated that the legal side of it would be reviewed. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Olsen, seconded by Commissioner Bennett to recommend to City <br />Council's Finance Committee funding of the self-serve canoe and kayak system at a not-to- <br />exceed amount of $13,000 from the Park Trust Fund. <br /> <br />COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Update on East Meandering Commons Park: Commissioner Olsen wanted to comment that one <br />of the things she was asked time and time again at the Environmental Expo about the <br />Amphitheater was are the residents going to be notified of the events.
