Menu board for drive-up or walk-up lane of a drive-in business are allowed up to a maximum of 50 <br />square feet of total signage. Menu boards are allowed a message on one side only and cannot contain an <br />advertising message. <br />(6) <br />Directional signs. <br />a. <br />Directional or instructional signs are permitted in accordance with section 117-463(1). <br />b. <br />Parking lot directional signs designating parking area entrances and exits are limited to one sign for each <br />entrance and/or exit and shall not exceed four square feet for each exposed face. Parking lot directional signs <br />shall not project higher than five feet in height, as measured from the established grade of the parking area to <br />which such signs are accessory. <br />c. <br />Parking lot instructional signs designating the conditions of use or identifying parking areas shall not exceed <br />eight square feet and shall not project higher than ten feet in height for wall signs and seven feet in height for <br />ground signs, as measured from the established grade of the parking area to which such signs are accessory. <br />d. <br />Window signs are restricted to 30 percent of the area of the window in which the sign is to be displayed. <br />(b) <br />Shopping center signs. In accordance with section 117-54, the developer shall submit a sign plan for approval, <br />drawn to scale with elevations, at the time application is made for site plan approval. The sign plan shall include but <br />not be limited to the following information: number of signs, type of signs, sign sizes, type of construction materials, <br />sign messages, and proposed sign locations. <br />(Code 1978, § 9.12.08; Ord. No. 08-25, § 2, <br />8.12-2008) <br />Sec. 117-520. - E-1 and E-2 Employment Districts. <br />(a) <br />Wall, canopy ormarquee sign. Total sign area may not exceed 15 percent of the front building facade. Sign height <br />shall not exceed the top of the parapet wall or, if no parapet wall, sign height shall not exceed the height of the <br />eaves. A wall, canopy or marquee sign may be located on the outermost wall of any principal building but shall not <br />project more than 16 inches from the wall to which the sign is to be affixed. Where a principal building is devoted to <br />two or more permitted uses, the operator of each such use may install a wall sign upon his proportionate share of <br />i the building wall to which the sign is to be affixed. The maximum gross surface area of each such wall sign shall be <br />determined by calculating the proportionate share of the area of the building wall, including doors and windows to <br />which the sign is to be affixed and applying such proportion to the total permitted wall sign aggregate gross surface <br />! .area for the building. The gross surface area of a wall sign may be increased by ten percent if such wall sign: <br />~ Consists only of individual, outlined alphabetic, numeric, and/or symbolic characters without background except <br />I provided by the building surface to which the sign is to be affixed; and <br />A2ny illumination, if any is achieved through shielded illumination, shielded silhouette lighting, or shielded spot <br />lighting but not any lighting where the light source is visible or exposed on the face or sides of the characters. <br />i (b) . <br />Ground signs. There shall not be more than one ground sign for each parcel. The gross surface area of a ground <br />sign shall not exceed 100 square feet for each exposed face nor exceed an aggregate gross surface area of 200 <br />square feet. <br />(c) <br />Directional signs. <br />(1) <br />I Directional or instructional signs are permitted in accordance with section 117-463(1). <br />i (2) <br />Parking lot directional signs designating parking area entrances and exits are limited to one sign for each entrance <br />and/or exit and shall not exceed four square feet for each exposed face.
