Absent: Commissioner Olsen. <br />APPROVE MINUTES <br />Motion by Commissioner Barr, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to approve the following <br />Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes: <br />1) Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes dated May 13, 2010. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Shryock, Commissioners Barr, Bennett, Backous, and <br />LaMere. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Olsen. <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br />Case #1: Consider Naming Central Park's Shelter and Concession Stand "Lion's <br />Pavilion" <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood briefly reviewed that in 2006, the Council authorized the <br />construction of a replacement concession stand and shelter at Central Park that was partially <br />funded by a $367,000 contribution from the Ramsey Lions. He stated that the Lions weren't <br />interested in a dedication. He stated that they suggested putting one of their signs up on the <br />shelter and calling it Lion's Pavilion. He explained that staff is working on an advertising piece. <br />Chairperson Shryock questioned if the cost is $100. <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that up to $500 is being made available in addition. He <br />explained that the revenues for the Lions are down. <br />Motion by Commissioner Backous, seconded by Commissioner Bennett to recommend City <br />Council proceed with the dedication of the Central Park concession stand and shelter by formally <br />renaming the park building "Lion's Pavilion." <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Shryock, Commissioners Backous, Bennett, Barr, and <br />LaMere. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Olsen. <br />Councilmember McGlone asked if there should be some promotion of the pavilion. <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that the plaque may be up in about a week. <br />Commissioner Shryock stated that an article could be put together and presented to various <br />publications. <br />Park and Recreation Commission/June 10, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br />
