Wirtz's Nursery in light of their recent bankruptcy. Finally, current reports need to be reworked to <br />make them more relevant for today. <br />Case #4: UPDATE ON RAMSEY TOWN CENTER <br />Deputy City Administrator/Community Development Director Nelson presented the Ramsey Town <br />Center update. <br />Ms. Nelson explained that the new brand roll -out for the area formerly known as the Ramsey Town <br />Center, will be taking place on Wednesday, July 14th when News Releases announce the celebration <br />of the launch of The COR. <br />The new focus will be on higher -density in The COR, and ensuring that the plan be flexible in <br />response to today's market. The attempt will be made to run The COR like a private development, <br />and the long-term goal is to be in the best position possible when the market improves. <br />A celebration is scheduled on Thursday, August 5th at the new Amphitheater. The Big Walter <br />Smith Band will be performing, and guests are encouraged to attend the Farmer's Market before the <br />concert. <br />Darren Lazan, Development Manager of Landform, gave an update on the work that has been done <br />in an attempt to bring in new business in The COR. <br />Case #5: UPDATE ON 2010 BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY <br />Management Intern Hendricks gave an update on the Business Appreciation Day golf event. <br />Registration fees are coming in, and past hole sponsors will be contacted by phone to encourage <br />them to participate again this year. Staff has prepared a case to request HRA funding to help off -set <br />the cost of fleece jackets (with The COR logo) that will be given to participants. Reusable bags are <br />being donated by QCTV and miscellaneous items, including The COR pins and other promotional <br />items, will be included in the bags. <br />Case #6: ANOKA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE GOLF EVENT AND 3M <br />CHAMPIONSHIP ANOKA COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DAY <br />Deputy City Administrator/Community Development Director Nelson invited EDA members to <br />participate in one of two different upcoming golf events. The Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce <br />22"a Annual Golf Tournament on July 25th, and the Anoka County hosting of the hospitality tent at <br />the 3M Championship at the Tournament Players Club in Blaine on August 5th through the 8th. <br />MEMBER INPUT <br />Member Skaff tabled Chairperson Riley's suggestion to add a case to the agenda to discuss the <br />vacancy of the Economic Development staff position due to time constraints. <br />Economic Development Authority / July 8, 2010 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
