He stated they would
like to do something with their property sooner rather than later and the time was great right now
for purchasing a home. He stated he would like to bring to the Council some offer to do
something with this property. He did not want things to drag on and wait to do something. He
believed this could be a win-win situation. He indicated he wanted some sense of direction.
Robert Hanson, stated his property was also affected by both routes as well. He stated he was
disappointed that he had just found out about this and that the City was down to two options. He
stated he had come into the City a year ago for a permit and at that time, he had asked for the
latest news regarding the extension and had been informed that the City did not know which way
this was going. He stated he felt like he was being held hostage and that he could not do
anything with his property. He noted at the moment he could not sell his house if he wanted to
with these things on the record. He noted he has been on his property for 23 years and he was on
the property before there was discussion about this. He requested a timeframe and direction as to
when the City intended to do this project. He stated he was open to looking at offers and
options. Councilmember Elvig thanked Mr. Hanson for his comments and he agreed it was not
fair to let the residents wait and that was why the City was looking at options now even though
the project might not be done at any time in the future.
City Engineer Himmer stated there had been no neighborhood meetings as this project keeps
getting pushed back.
City Council /July 13, 2010
