Consent # 539 <br />REPORT FROM PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Interim Human Resources Representative <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Personnel Committee met Monday, August 9, 2010 to discuss the following cases: <br />CITIZEN INPUT: <br />There was none. <br />APPROVE AGENDA: <br />Motion to approve the agenda as submitted. <br />Case 1 Consider Resolution Accepting a Firefighter Resignation <br />Background: <br />On July 13, 2010, Ms. Rika Turnaquist submitted a letter of resignation effective immediately. Staff <br />is not asking to replace this position at this time and is recommending Council accept Ms. Rika's <br />resignation. <br />Personnel Committee Recommendation: <br />Motion to recommend City Council adopt the resolution accepting the resignation of firefighter Rika <br />Tumaquist. <br />City Council Action: <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Personnel Committee. <br />Case 2 Consider Resolution Accepting the Assistant Finance Officer's Resignation, Authorizing <br />Staff to Promote the Employee in the Accountant I position to Senior Accountant and to <br />Begin a Recruitment to replace the Accountant I position. <br />Background: <br />On July 29, 2010, Assistant Finance Officer Sandy Carlson submitted a letter of resignation, with <br />her last day of employment being August 11, 2010. It is requested that the City's current <br />Accountant I position be promoted to the title of Senior Accountant. For internal control purposes, <br />which are mandated by the State Auditor, to have enough staff to oversee the financial transactions <br />of the City, staff is proposing that the Accountant I position be filled. The proposed restructuring <br />would present an overall cost savings to the City of approximately $30,000. <br />
