Personnel Committee Recommendation: Motion to recommend City Council adopt the resolution accepting the resignation of Sandy Carlson, Assistant Finance Officer, and promoting Denelle McAlpine, Accountant I to Senior Accountant, and that staff be authorized to begin the recruitment process to fill the Accountant I position. City Council Action: Ratify the recommendation of the Personnel Committee. Case 3 Consider Resolution Authorizing an Adjustment to the Compensation for the Deputy City Administrator/Community Development Director Position Background: Staff asked the Personnel Committee to recommend authorizing an adjustment to the compensation for the Deputy City Administrator/Director of Community Development position. Heidi Nelson assumed the position and was not given additional compensation at that time. Since then, Ms. Nelson obtained certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional. Ms. Nelson's position is a key management position of the City but the position salary lags behind other organization department head positions. The City Administrator recommended a salary of $100,644, effective July 1, 2010. The Personnel Committee discussed the request. It was noted that the number two person in charge of the City is the lowest paid department head. It was also noted that when the new title was given to Ms. Nelson, it was stated at that time, there would not be monetary compensation. Personnel Committee Recommendation: Motion by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Chairperson Dehen to not approve the additional compensation request for Ms. Nelson, but that it could be looked at during 2011 budget discussions.
