VARIOLITE EXTENSION OPEN HOUSE COMMENTS Maintenance: • NE corner of 158 & Variolite currently eroding Safety: • Poor visibility to the east (along Alpine) already • Police & fire have a hard time getting to all areas of Ramsey, not just this neighborhood • Already put in a lot of stop signs so traffic would slow down, now you want to add more? o Kids ride bikes & walking dogs —will result in the death of a child • More traffic into quiet neighborhood o Noise • No more telling the kids to "go around the block" • "stranger" access • Speeds too high; going to add more & faster vehicles into neighborhood — more enforcement • Poor visibility at Variolite & old CSAH 63; especially east -west on 63 o Adding more traffic through corridor to old CSAH 63 & CSAH 5 — realign 63 for better visibility Not in Favor. • Changing scope /feel of older /established neighborhood to account for COR growth o Like the rural /country feel • Comp. Plan — "maintain or strengthen the character of established neighborhoods" & new projects protect "existing housing values" and "neighborhood identity and quality" — negative impacts! • Maintain "Ramsey's vision" — involve all citizens in decisions that impact their lives, property, & neighborhoods • Invested in our property recently, but if would have known about this probably wouldn't have • Do not add sewer & increase taxes for this road • Not in the best interest of the City • The bridge /road to nowhere • "benefit few while causing hardship to a great number of residents" Misc. • Want street lights in neighborhood —too dark now • Look at timing of signal on Ramsey Blvd to improve circulation — too long a wait, even when no cross traffic Timing: • Not warranted at this time, what studies have been undertaken /needs assessment? • COR hasn't developed as planned • Already enough access to the COR • "Don't see that there is a traffic flow problem, or access problem to the COR"
