dollars aze being applied towards paying for staff. The EDA operates on a levied budget, which
is paid for by taxing residents. He does not support this. Instead, he feels the city should stretch
its internal resources until the market turns around. He thinks we'll be subsidizing a staff
member for quite some time before we see any development.
Councilmember Jeffrey pointed out that the HRA is a levied budget as well and that is what
we're using to pay for the Landform consultant. The consultants aze doing great work, but in
times of tough budgets, with no big deals being landed, maybe it's time to reel back and put that
money into afull-time staff member.
Councilmember Wise said that he would support this position if additional job duties could be
added to the job description to take the burden off others, specifically with the Human Resources
Manager position being vacated.
Further discussion took place regarding whether the city is missing out on development
opportunities by not having afull-time staff member in the Economic Development role.
Motion carried.
