These action steps would be 1) Vehemently oppose the removal of Anoka and
Ramsey from the RMT mapping to include: resolutions if necessazy, building coalitions, and
calling on assistance from appointed and elected officials if deemed effective; 2) Bring back for
Anoka and Ramsey's City Councils, an advance construction plan for the MRT's construction
from King's island, thought Mississippi West Regional park to the existing trail to the river and
site of the future pedestrian overpass; 3) Authorize staff to contact property owners between
alpaca Estates and Bowers Drive to see if there are opportunities to construct a trail connecting
these subdivisions in advance of development in this vicinity; and 4) other measures as may be
necessary and prudent.
4) Consider Statewide Health Improvement Program Agreement with Anoka County
Pazks Supervisor Riverblood presented the staff report.
Councilmember Look stated he struggled with spending tax dollars on getting people to recreate.
Cindy Tranby, Anoka County, noted these funds were part of the Health Care Access Fund. She
summazized the program.
It was Council's consensus to proceed with the program with Anoka County.
5) Discussion regarding Options for Staffing 2010 Happy Days
Interim Human Resources Representative Lasher presented the staff report.
Councilmember Look stated he wanted to reduce the work in terms of Highway 10 code
enforcement and if the planning department had too much work, the City might have to hire a
contract planner.
City Council Work Session /August 24, 2010
Page 2 of 4
