Ms. Corkle responded the funds would be lost as they were designated by the Federal
government for this project only.
Nancy McNabe, Casey's, believed Casey's business would substantially decrease and she asked
if the Council could work on this so the business was not destroyed. She stated she liked the
roundabout idea. He thought there was a
consensus that the Council would limit the number of vehicles with size restrictions. He noted
the attachment allowed for as many vehicles as a property owner wanted as long as it was on a
driveway. He recommended the Council limit the number of items by lot size (i.e. 0 to 2.5 acres
allow for six vehicles, 2.5 to 10 acres allow 8 vehicles, and 10 acres and over allow 12 vehicles.)
Planning Manager Miller responded staff did not know if there was a consensus of the Council
regarding the amount. She
stated the reason this information was on the chart was so the Council could discuss how many
vehicles could be on a driveway. She noted many people who had larger lots purchased those
lots so they could store more items. She asked if Council wanted to count what was on the
driveway or not.
Councilmember Jeffrey stated he had been contacted by a citizen who had six kids all of which
lived at home and each of them had a car and this citizen had received a letter regarding the
number of vehicles. He asked what was a person suppose to do when there were many people of
driving age in the household.
Mayor Ramsey stated he was in favor of Councilmember Dehen's suggestion with a possibility
of having an exemption.
Councilmember Dehen stated he agreed a citizen should have the option of petitioning the City
for some kind of an exemption if needed. -
The consensus was to count items in the driveway, with the possibility of an exemption to be
dealt with administratively.
3) Purchasing Policy
Finance Officer Lund reviewed staff report.
Councilmember Dehen stated he did not advocate RFP's but, rather, quotes.
