Consent#
REPORT FROM PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
By: Colleen Lasher; Interim Human Resources Representative
BACKGROUND:
The Personnel Committee met Tuesday, September 28, 2010.
CITIZEN INPUT:
There was none.
APPROVE AGENDA:
Motion to approve the agenda as submitted.
Case 1: Consider a Resolution Authorizing Staff to reorganize Administrative Services
Background:
There have been several recent changes to the staffing of the Administrative Services department.
These changes include the resignation of the Human Resources Manager /Assistant Director of
Administrative Services, an interim title change for the Human Resources Technician, the
completion of a 3 -year City Clerk's training by the Records Management Clerk, and the resignation
of the Management Intern.
The Human Resources Manager /Assistant Director of Administrative Services position has been
removed from the preliminary 2011 budget in favor of an internal staff promotion and a
reassignment of duties. Due to the Records Management Clerk's new certification and role assisting
the City Clerk, staff recommends this position be reclassified to Deputy City Clerk. The Deputy
City Clerk would take over the supervision responsibilities of two administrative support employees
and assume a broader role with regard to the City's communication processes. Lastly, the City's
Management Intern resigned in August and staff does not wish to fill this position for the
foreseeable future.
Personnel Committee Recommendation:
Motion recommend the City Council authorize staff to reorganize Administrative Services as
follows: Authorize a title change for Colleen Lasher to Human Resources Representative at step one
of the wage scale, effective September 1, 2010; authorize a reclassification for Amy Died to Deputy
City Clerk at step six of the wage scale, effective October 13, 2010, and to accept the resignation of
the City's Management Intern and to not fill the position at this time.
City Council Action:
Ratify the recommendation of the Personnel Committee.
