PC CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE HIRI~G OF PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE WORKER <br /> By: Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Due to the resignation of a Public Works Maintenance Worker effective March 1~t, 2002, <br />a vacancy was created in the Public Works Department. A recruitment process was <br />initiated in mid-March 2002; the poskion was posted internally and one application was <br />received by the deadline. The application was reviewed and the Public Works Director <br />and Asst. City Administrator decided to proceed with an external recruitment process. <br />Seventy-one applications were received. The applications were reviewed and intetwiews <br />were conducted with eleven candidates by a panel _cons/sting of the Public Works <br />Director, Public Work Parks/Utilities Supervisor, Public Works Streets Supervisor, Public <br />Works Lead Person, and Assistant City Administrator. Based on the panel's <br />recommendation, staff is recommendhag hiring Todd Marlette for the posit/on of Public <br />Works Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending Todd Marlette for the position of full-time Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker at a starting wage of $15.0364/hour plus benefits and will accrue <br />two weeks of vacation per year. Mr. Marlette's hiring will be contingent on successful <br />completion of an employment physical and drug/alcohol screen. With Council approval, <br />Mr. Marlette's stm't date will be May 15th, 2002. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend Todd Marlette for the position of full-time Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker at a starting wage of $15.0364/horn' plus benefits and two weeks <br />vacation, contingent on successful completion of employment physical and drug/alcohol <br />screen. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Director of Public Works <br />Asst.
