-170- <br /> <br />element illustrating 167th Avenue being extended due west beyond its current terminus at <br />Jasper Street and turning southwesterly west of the extension of Quantz Street until <br />intersecting with 166t~ Avenue at Variolite Street. Staff presented an aerial strip map on <br />which two generalized alternative alignments were sketched. One alignment hereafter <br />referred to as the northerly alignment, turned northwesterly at a point east of 167th and <br />Jasper to transverse an existing farm field before turning southwesterly to rejoin the <br />current alignment shown on the City's Comprehensive Plan. The second alignment <br />dipped southwesterly east of Jasper Street to utilize 166th Avenue. <br /> <br />The Committee expressed a preference for the northerly alignment and made a motion to <br />recommend a map change to the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to ratify the recommendation of the Committee and direct Staff to prepare <br />necessary measures to modify the transportation map consistent with tlse northerly route. <br /> <br />Case # 4 Presentation of Wellhead Protection Measures for the City Wells <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Staff made a presentation on the States Wellhead Protection Program which is being <br />administered by the Minnesota Department of Public Health. To date, the technical <br />elements of defining these areas from which City wells are drawing water has been <br />accomplished. Future work will be developing an implementation program to protect <br />groundwater within these defined areas. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />None Required <br /> <br />Case #5 <br /> <br />Presentation of the City's Street Lighting System <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Staff reviewed the historical development of the City's street lighting system and it's <br />underlying implementation policy. A current map of the street lighting system was <br />presented. <br /> <br />The Committee made a request to add a second priority light at the southeast corner of <br />the intersection of Armstrong Boulevard and Alpine Drive and contact the owner of a <br />private security light near the intersection requesting that he consider abandoning it. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br /> I <br />I' <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />i' <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
