I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />,I <br /> I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />PC CASE <br /> <br /> APPOINTMENT OF POLICE CHIEF <br />By: Patrick Leadens, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br />On October 17th 2002, staff received a letter of Resignation/Retirement from Police Chief <br />David Gustafson, which was effective November 4th, 2002. <br /> <br />On October 22nd, 2002 the City Council approved Sergeant James Way as the Interim <br />Police Chief effective November 5th, 2002. <br /> <br />An internal posting for the position of Police Chief was properly posted soliciting letters <br />of interest. One letter of interest was received from Sergeant James F. Way. One letter <br />of dis-interest was received from Sergeant Kuhn. Sergeant Way will be at the November <br />12th regular meeting of the Personnel Committee. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that Interim Police Chief James F. Way be appointed to the full time <br />position of Police Chief at a salary of $67,289 per year with a probationary Period of one <br />year.
