Anderson <br />Councilmember Terry Hendriksen <br />Councilmember. Patti Kurak <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at <br />6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Authorize Hiring of Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that at the June 11, 2002 Council meeting, the <br />Council accepted the resignation of Rhonda Heryla from the full-time position of Human <br />Resources Manager and authorized the recruitment process to fill the vacant position created. <br />The position was posted simultaneously internally and externally. There were 73 complete <br />applications received, all from external candidates. The applications were reviewed and a panel <br />of employees interviewed six candidates. The panel consisted of the Assistant City <br />Administrator, all department directors and representatives from each of the collective bargaining <br />groups. Since the completion of the interview process last Thursday, September 5, staff has been <br />in the process of conducting background checks on the top two candidates for the position as <br />well as further discussion with each of the candidates.
