3. After stripping of the top layer of grass and grass root, remaining organic soils shall be stripped
and separately stockpiled.

After utility construction, all. disturbed wetland areas shall be restored first with a layer of
salvaged organic material, minimum 2.0 foot thick and covered with a minimum 18 inch layer of
salvaged wetland grass and grass root material as "wetland surfacing". The entire construction
area will be revegetated with indigenous plant species as early in the growing season as possible
to permit adequate regrowth.

The chief species of wildlife in the Site area are gray squirrel, fox squirrel, muskrat, mink, whitetail
deer and several species of songbirds, waterfowl, pheasants and grouse. The majority of these
species are readily adaptable to an urban environment. While some temporary displacement of the
species populations can occur during construction activities, .upon. completion of the proposed
project, the majority of these species can be expected to reintegrate into the Site and surrounding
areas with little or no impact upon their populations. Many of these species continue to thrive in an
urban environment due to diminished hunting pressures and predation.

3) Jeopardize Water Quality and Supply

No wetland areas will be filled in or destroyed as a result of the proposed project on the Site. In
order to control stormwater runoff from the Site, two sediment ponds will be constructed. All of the
storm sewer lines at the Site will be connected to these sedimentation ponds, which will dissipate the
energy of the stormwater runoff, assist with infiltration, trap sediments and allow the filtered
stormwater to backflow into the small wetland areas.

A large portion of the Site is currently being used as pastureland and subsequentl, y, a moderate
amount of animal manure is scattered about the Site. As a result, animal waste infiltrates the soils
of the Site, potentially impacting surface water and groundwater quality. As a result of the proposed
project, the use of the Site as pastureland will be discontinued.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I

As previously stated, soils at the Site consist of loamy sands that are excessively drained and are
characterized by rapid permeability. These characteristics allow rainfall to rapidly infiltrate into the
soils at the Site.

Upon completion of the proposed project on the Site, the residential homes and townhomes will be
connected to the municipal sewer and water supply systems. No individual sewer systems (septic) or
water supply wells will be constructed on the Site. As a result of the proposed project, 6 to. 10
individual septic systems and water supply wells will be abandoned and sealed as per an5} applicable
local, state or federal laws. The sealing and abandonment of these septic systems and wells will
eliminate potential contaminant migration routes on the Site.

In addition to the above, the following erosion and sediment control measures will be implemented.

The excavation and moving of soil materials shall be scheduled so that the smallest possible area
will be unprotected from erosion for the shortest time feasible.

G:\PRIVATE\3000\3057\3057.03\3057-03pt.doc

Ill-I

Hakanson
Anderson
Assoc.. f_
