-18- <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Counciimember Hendriksen, to recommend that the City <br />Council adopt the resolution authorizing the promotion of Police Corporal Bradley Paplham to <br />the position of full-time Police Sergeant effective November 27, 2002. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Authorize Internal Recruitment of a Police First Sergeant <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that on November 12, 2002, staff received <br />authorization to appoint Interim Police Chief James Way to the position of Police Chief, thus <br />creating a vacancy for a Police First Sergeant position. The requirements for the position of <br />Police First Sergeant are three years of service as a Sergeant for the Ramsey Police Department. <br />Based on that informati0h, there would be two' qualified candidates. Staff received a' letter from <br />Sergeant Bob Kuhn expressing his disinterest in the position and a letter from Sergeant Tim <br />Dwyer expressing his interest in the position. Based on that information, staff is recommending <br />the promotion of Sergeant Tim Dwyer to the position of Police First Sergeant. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to recommend that the City <br />Council adopt the resolution authorizing the promotion of Sergeant Tim Dwyer to the position of <br />Police First Sergeant. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, Anderson, Hendriksen, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3a: Authorize Internal Recruitment for the POsition of Police Corporal <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that with the promotion of Police Corporal Bradley <br />Paplham to the position of Police Sergeant, a vacancy is created for the position of Police <br />Corporal. Staff is requesting atithorization to begin the process to internally recruit a full-time <br />Police Corporal to fill the vacancy. The position will be posted internally in all appropriate <br />areas. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember HendrikSen, to recommend that the City <br />Council adopt the resolution authorizing the internal recruitment of a full-time Police Corporal <br />position. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
