I <br /> <br />PC CASE <br /> <br />RATIFY HIRING OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER <br /> By: Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the Regular Meeting of September 11, 2002, the City Council authorized the City <br />Administrator to hire either Lori Kingston or Patrick Leaden to fill the vacancy of Human <br />Resource Manager. Following the Council authorization on September 11, 2002, staff <br />commenced background checks and reached agreement regarding terms and starting date <br />with the preferred candidate Lori Kingston. Therefore, we are requesting that the Council <br />ratify the hiring of Ms. Kingston to fill the vacant Human resource Manager position. <br /> <br />This position was declared vacant on June 11, 2002, when the City Council accepted the <br />resignation of ghonda Heryla from the fulltime position of Human Resource Manager <br />and authorized the recruitment process to fill the vacant position created. The position <br />was posted simultaneously internally and externally. There were seventy-three complete <br />applications received, all from external candidates. The applications were reviewed and a <br />panel of employees interviewed six candidates. The panel consisted of the Assistant City <br />Administrator, all department directors and representatives fi-om each of the collective <br />bargaining groups. Based on the panel's review, staff is recommending hiring Lori Lea <br />Kingston for the position of Human Resource Manager. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that the Council ratify hiring Lori Lea Kingston for the position of <br />full-time Human Resource Manger at a starting wage ors 61,049.00 plus benefits and <br />accrual of three weeks of vacation per year. Ms. Kingston's hiring is contingent upon <br />successful completion of background checks and she must pass an employment physical <br />and drug/alcohol screen. Ms Kingston's start date will be September 23, 2002. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend Lori Kingston for the position of full-time Human Resource <br />Manager at a starting wage of $ 61,049. plus benefits and three weeks vacation, <br />contingent on successful completion of background checks, employment physical, and <br />drug/alcohol screen. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />City Clerk <br />Assistant City Administrator <br />PC: 09/24/02 <br /> <br />-223- <br /> <br /> <br />
