'1 <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br />'1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />PC CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE HIRING OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER <br /> By: Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At its Regular Meeting of June 11, 2002, City Council accepted with regret, the <br />resignation of Rhonda Heryla from the fulltime position of Human Resource Manager <br />and authorized the recruitment process to fill the vacant position created. The position <br />was posted simultaneously internally and externally. There were seventy-three complete <br />applications received, all from external candidates. The applications were reviewed and a <br />panel of employees interviewed six candidates. The panel consisted of the Assistant City <br />Administrator, ail department directors and representatives from each of the collective <br />bargaining groups. Based on the panel's review, staff is recgmmending hiring Lori L. <br />Kingston for the position of Human Resource Manager. <br /> <br />With the completion of interviews on Thursday, September 5th, the staff is in the process <br />of confirming an acceptable wage and start date with Ms. Kingston. We expect these <br />issues will be confirmed prior to the perso.nnel committee meeting on Tuesday, <br />September 11 th, 2002. <br /> <br />Staff' Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending Loft Lea Kingston for the position of full-time Human Resource <br />Manger at a starting wage of plus benefits and will accrue three weeks of <br />vacation per year. Ms. Kingston's hiring would be contingent on successful completion of <br />background checks and she must pass an employment physical and drug/alcohol screen. <br />With Council approval, Ms Kingston's start date will be ,2002. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend Lori Kingston for the position of full-time Human Resource <br />Manager at a starting wage of plus benefits and three weeks vacation, <br />contingent on successful completion of background checks, employment physical, and <br />drug/alcohol screen. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Assistant City Administrator <br />Interim HR Manager <br /> <br />PC: 09/11/02 <br /> <br />-345- <br /> <br /> <br />
