Case <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION FOR CONSTRUCTION STAKING AND CONTRACT <br /> ADMINISTRATION OF THE MnDOT PARK AND RIDE <br /> By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> Brian E. Olson, Principal City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The previous case was an agreement between the State of Minnesota and the City to design, <br />construct and operate a NORTHSTAR COMMUTER COACH Park and Ride facility. The <br />agreement provides grant money to design and construct a Park and Ride facility. Staff has <br />worked with Hakanson Anderson to develop an estimate for design and construction of the Park <br />and Ride facility (proposal for design and construction attached). <br /> <br />On the Special City Council meeting that was held on August 5, 2002, the City Council <br />authorized Hakanson Anderson to begin the design and site survey that amounted to $35,000. <br />Assuming that the previous cases were approved, the purpose of this case is to authorize <br />Hakanson Anderson to complete the construction staking and construction services and <br />administration in the event that the Contracts are approved for a successful low bidder. <br /> <br />We have a meeting tentatively set up with the County to discuss the turn lanes that were <br />mentioned at the August 5, 2002, City council meeting. Results of those discussion will be <br />presented at the August 13, 2002, City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff would recommend authorizing Hakanson Anderson to proceed with the construction <br />staking and.construction services and administration in the amount of $18,000 contingent upon <br />the City Council awarding a Contract for the NORTHSTAR COMMUTER COACH Park and <br />Ride facility. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to authorize Hakanson Anderson to proceed with the construction staking and <br />construction services and administration in the amount of $18,000 contingent upon the City <br />Council awarding a Contract for the NORTHSTAR COMMUTER COACH Park and Ride <br />facility. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Attorney <br /> <br />CC: 08/13/02 <br /> <br />-241- <br /> <br /> <br />
