I I i I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT 1) August 27, 2002 City Council Meeting City Adlninistrator Norman noted the weekly update and commented on the scheduling conflict with the August 27, 2002 Council meeting. Council consensus was reached to reschedule the August 27, 2002 Council Meeting to Monday, August 19, 2002. 2) Official Mapping City Administrator Norman stated his understanding that the Council has authorized staff to work with Len Levine on the official mapping and this topic will be added to a work session agenda. Councihnember Hendriksen suggested a discussion on how to influence their priorities. He stated he would hate to wait a couple of months to have that discussion before attempting escalation and asked if it could be discussed for a few minutes at the meeting tonight. City Administrator Norman stated he had assumed the direction was for staff to talk with Mr. Levine and he was suggesting to invite Mr. Levine to the work session. Councihnember Anderson suggested that Mr. Levine be asked to provide pros and cons on the mapping. Councilmember Hendriksen asked the City Attorney to research mapping and determine if the City would be incurring some liability. Mayor Gamec noted that the funding is not received until the project is done. Councilmember Hendriksen asked staff to also get input from Mr. Levine on funding for locking up some of the lots that would be part of the right-of-way. Councilmember Zimmerman suggested the City Attorney research which cities have used official mapping. Councilmember Hendriksen stated he would like to better understand the funding source. Councilmember Zimmerman asked if a representative from 'MnDOT should be invited to the meeting to assure what Mr. Levine says is agreed with by MnDOT. Councilmember Hendriksen stated he would like to plan a separate strategy session with Mr. Levine. City Council/July 9, 2002 Page 23 of 24 -81-
