PRESENTATION ON WELLHEAD PROTECTION <br />REQUIREMENTS FOR CITY WELLS <br /> By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the April 2002 Public Works Committee meeting, staff provided a brief presentation <br />on the wellhead protection program for the wells of the City's ~vater utility. A copy of <br />that case attached as background information. <br /> <br />The Department of Health has been charged with the responsibility of overseeing the <br />implementation of Minnesota Groundwater Protection Act. The Department has <br />approved Part I of the City's wellhead protection plan. A public informational meeting is <br />required to be held at which the approved wellhead protection areas, drinking water <br />supply management areas, and vulnerability assessments are to be made available for <br />review. <br /> <br />Mr. Stephen Robertson, a hydrogeologist with the Department of Health will be in <br />attendance at the Council meeting to present the findings of the groundwater modeling <br />used to identify the recharge areas of our city wells and to provide information on the <br />wellhead protection program. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />No Council action is required.
