-52-

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that sounds like a personal attack.

Mayor Gamec stated it is not a personal attack just a question; which one. He stated he does not
know of any.

Councilmember Hendriksen asked the City Attorney if something has been done here. He stated
it sounds like Mayor Gamec is making a case for the Kuraks.

Mayor Gamec stated he is if Councilmember Hendriksen wants to say that.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated the Kuraks are being given a lot of latitude and it is his
personal feeling that this would not be extended should they not be on the City Council.
Councilmember Hendriksen explained he is saying, that this is being extended to them (the
Kuraks) and if it turns out that it will be turned around to look like we (the City) were
disadvantaging them, then we (the Council) should call the vote and let the cards fall where they
may. He stated if they do in fact feel that this is a burden being placed upon them that would not
be placed on others, then we need to stop that and call the vote as he thinks should have been
done several months ago.

Councilmember Zimmerman stated that after the Comprehensive Plan, there were 8 or 10 parcels
that requested rezoning. He asked if the Council had acted on all of them.

Community Development Director Frolik advised that all opened amendments have been acted
on by the City Council and the only one remaining is the change of land use designation or being
included in the Iv[USA

John Bertzyk, 6001 146th Avenue NW, stated his issue is with Councilmember Hendriksen. He
stated he has attended many Council meetings, been active in City government, and attended
meetings where 14 other properties have been brought up -and all were passed except one and that
is Kurak's property. Mr, Bertzyk stated that Councilmember Hendriksen has been personally
and verbally attacking Councilmember Kurak ali year long.

Councilmember Hendriksen asked if this is a question.

Mr. Bertzyk stated it is actually a statement of truth and asked Councilmember Hendriksen how
he can say she is not being asked to jump through special hoops or dealing with roadblocks that
didn't occur with others. He also asked Councilmember Hendriksen how he can change his mind
and pretend it didn't happen

Councilmember Hendriksen stated his voting record is very consistent and the only reason that
land use change was not approved, quite frankly, is because Councilmember Kurak is prohibited
from voting on it. In addition, if she were allowed to vote On her own property it probably would
be allowed to pass like all the other 14.

City Council/June 11, 2002

I
I
I
I
I
I
I'
I
I

I
I
I

I,
I
I
I
I
