-54-

4) Contract Zoning - continued

Richard K_rueger, 7640 150'h Lane NW, asked if Councilmember Hendriksen is saying he is
willing to talk about it now and consider what they (the Kuraks) want.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated he became concerned at a workshop wl~en Councilmember
Kurak indicated her £amily was being asked to do more things than others. He stated that set off
a "red flag" that there was potentially a law suit coming. I4e stated his opinion that they (the
Kuraks) have been given extension after extension to attempt an agreement with the
neighborhood. Yet the statement was made that was somehow unfair to them. If that is truly
their feeling and will spark litigation, we need to do something to limit liability.

Councilmember Kurak stated she didn't say anything like that and asked for a copy of the
minutes that indicate that. She stated that Councilmember Hendriksen is putting words in her
mouth and trying to read her mind in saying she will be bringing a lawsuit. She stated that is
terrible, and she expects 'an'apology. She stated she is insulted and noted that after the Council
had adopted the Ordinance regarding decorum, Councilmember Hendriksen was saying terrible
things about her motives.

Mayor Gamec stated he doesn't go for political crap at meetings and noted this is a land
development issue and the Council asked these people to get together, which may be a
disadvantage to both sides. He stated he thinks people purposely went out and spread
misinformation saying there would be 150 townhomes going in there. Mayor Gamec stated the
issues are that Patti Kurak is a Councilmember and owns this land. He noted that during her
election, she told them that she owned that land and still had the most votes anyone has received
in Ramsey. Mayor Gamec emphasized that ali deserve the same courtesy and if this has gone on
too tong, then a deadline needs to be set.

Mr. Kmeger stated that Mayor Gamec had made the suggestion about having them hold a
meeting, not Councilmember Kurak, so don't blame her.

Mayor Gamec stated he is not blaming Councilmember Kurak and while he may have made the
suggestion, the Council agreed to it. He stated this will be on the next meeting agenda.

6) Ramsey Resident

Councilmember Anderson stated she understands it is a budgeting issue but wondered if the
Ramsey Resident needs to come out every month so it is more timely and has information the
residents need. She stated it is obvious that residents read it more than the legal notices in the
newspaper.

City Council/June 11, 2002

I
I
I

I
I

I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I'
I
I
!
