CHAPTER 9 RESIDENTIAL ZONING DISTRICT AMENDNLENTS By: Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon Background: On December 18, 2001, the Ramsey City Council adopted the new Comprehensive Plan As a result, the City has been updating Chapter 9 (Zoning and SubdivisiOn ChaPter) to be consistent with new Comprehensive Plan. A Chapter 9 subcommittee, comprised of the City Council and Planning Commission, has been meeting since February 2002 reviewing changes. At this time, City staff is bringing forward the residential and language planned unit development zoning district regulations for consideration. Along with text amendments, a new residential zoning map will need to be considered. The following items are enclosed: a) Memo from Loren Gordon, Hoisington Koegler, dated June 5, 2002 b) Proposed Residential Zoning District Map c) Draft Planning Commission Minutes dated May 2, 2002 d) Letter Received from Ellen Stanley dated May 1, 2002 e) Proposed Ordinance Observations: The Planning Commission held a public hearing on May 2, 2002 and the City Council introduced the new residential zoning ordinance at their May 28, 2002 meeting. The City Council also instructed several small ch,a~_ ged be made. The changes made are covered in the memo from Loren Gordon, the City s consultant from Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. Under the City Charter, the ordinance is now eligible for adoption. ~ Recommendations: ,f~ City Staff recommends adoption of the proposed ordinance and zoning map. _ ~ .~ Council Action: \- ~) Motion to adopt an ordinance to amend the text and zoning map for the low, medium, and high density residential districts, and the text for the Planned Unit Development district contained in Chapter 9 (Zoning and Subdivision of Land) of City Code.
