I I '1 I I I I I I I I I I Motion to by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to continue the public hearing until June 11, 2002. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendr/ksen, Zimmerman, Anderson, and Kurak. Voting No: None. Case lA: Tree Preservation Ordinance Committee Mayor Gamec stated that he agreed with tree preservation and would have no problem with having a task fbrce with a couple of residents, Park Commission member, and possibly a Councilmember. After that is done he would suggest including a developer in the process to address any issues that might come up from their perspective. City Administrator Norman recommending placing the issue on the next Council agenda for the Council to appoint members to the task force. Councilmember Kurak inquired if other citizens could be involved. Mayor Gamec reptied that he thought there should be a variety of people involved. Joe McDilda, Neon Street NW, Ramsey, stated that what the residents presented the Council was something to start with. He stated that they are very receptive and open to anyone being part of the task force. Mayor Gamec stated that with all of the development coming into the City he would like to see the task force move quickly on the issues. Councilmember Kurak inquired as to who would be bringing the names forward for consideration. City Administrator Norman replied that staff will contact the Chair of the Park and Planning Commissions for a recommendation and the Council can bring forward any recommendations they may have. Councilmember Kurak inquired as to the size of task force. Mr. McDilda replied that they would be looking at about seven people. Councilmember Anderson stated that the does want help with resolving the issues, but the ultimate decision has to be made by the Council. City Council/May 14, 2002 Page 7 of 33 -63-
