He explained that the intent of the group is to work through the information and make a recommendation to the Council so that the Council is able to make and informed decision. Mayor Gamec stated that he would like to see a tree preservation plan by September or October. He also noted that he was not in favor of delaying The Ponds development until that process was completed. Councilmember Zimmennan stated that it is been made obvious that there is some language in the Comprehensive Plan that is not being followed. Mayor Gamec inquired if the Council was in agreement with adding the issue to the next Council agenda. Consensus of the Council was to add the appointments to the environmental task force to the next City Council agenda. Mr. McDilda stated that the neighborhood group is willing to work with the Council on the issue. What they are asking for is since the majority of the Ponds development has gone through the clear cutting process they would like special consideration to be given along the peninsula until a tree preservation plan is in place. Councilmember Hendfiksen stated that they have a Comprehensive Plan hat address the topics and places emphasis on very high density. What they need to do is address the issues in a meaningful way in the Comprehensive Plan relating to density and density transitioning. Councilmember Anderson stated that many of the ordinances that need to be developed after the Comprehensive Plan is adopted have not been completed yet, which is part of the problem. She did not believe that the densities were an issue at all. Councilmember Hendriksen replied that the densities in the Comprehensive Plan are much higher than what some of the Councilmembers would have hoped for. With a higher density it makes it almost impossible to save trees. Councilmember Anderson stated that when Councilmember Hendriksen moved to reduce the high density down to seven units an acre and medium density down to four units an acre there was no medium or high density. In the Ponds Development there is no high density and the area of iow and medium density do meet the standards of the Comprehensive Plan. Motion by Councillnember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to hold development on the peninsula until a tree preservation ordinance is adopted.
