-24- <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman replied that the posting area has lost its effectiveness over the years <br />and it was staff's opinion that brining additional light into the office made more sense. A new <br />area could be created for the postings of information. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the remodeling would have any impact on the <br />circulation of air and ventilation. <br /> <br />Ms. Boddinger explained that the circulation and ventilation will stay exactly the same. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that she would like to see a bid for new carpeting if they are going <br />to be doing some upgrades. She also suggested that all of the walls in the office area receive a <br />fresh coat of paint. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksgn Nq~ed if it was a fact that they would not be adding any additional <br />space only reconfi~madng"~Xisting ~ace. <br /> <br />Ms. Boddinger replied ~es. ?:? .~rZ <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendr/ksen presented an option for adding additional space at City Hall, which <br />involved converting the majofi~76f th~;main ~t~trance into office space. <br /> <br />Bill Baxley, Architect, stated that they did consider the option presented by Councilmember <br />Hendriksen, but there were issues of Proyiding'Pk0per:Work area for employees, which involved <br />proper airflow, acoustics, etc. ?;~-~:'~-~"~;i:;~i:~t,,.~.,~;,~.,,:;~i~ ~??~,. <br />Councilmember Henddksen stated that he felt ~kionate.ty'.~that:what he presented would provide <br />more working space at a minimal cost. ~;~? .~Si~;¢':-ii~:i~ ":ii~;h <br /> <br />Ms. Boddinger stated that one issue with moving the work'ai)ea out f~}the front would be that the <br />upper area would not be secured because of the open staircase fi'om.th~;!basement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that that issue, could be e d,I: 'ed by walling the staircase off. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that at a previous Council meeting the Council came to a <br />consensus that they wanted a short term fix-up rather than a major renovation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendr/ksen stated that if what he has proposed can't be explained as a bad <br />solution then he felt it should be considered further. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman replied that that option was discussed in detail at the previous work <br />session, but unfortunately Councilmember Hendr/ksen was unable to attend and that information <br />was not available for this meeting. <br /> <br />City Council/January 15, 2002 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
