I Mayor Gamec stated that there are problems with heating and cooling for the area because of the high ceiling, the stairway is another issue. At this time they are looking for a temporary fast fix to the problem. Councilmember Hendriksen replied that ceiling height and.length of time weren't compelling arguments. Mr. Baxley noted that the other issues would be security and the overall cost of the completing the project. What has been proposed, for a relatively small cost, has provided adequate space and updates the area. Councilmember Hendriksen replied that the option presented does not add any additional square footage. Ms. Boddinger noted that the big unknown at t~b: ~"evious .~rk session pertaining to that option was the cost of the electrical and ventilation. He felt that they could do what he suggested for the same amount of moneg ~i:i:th~, project presented and create additional space. There would not be additional employ~'~6' the"~ount of electrical use would not increase. He did not think that they should sg~;a s~gmficant amount of money without adding workspace. Councilmember Kurak felt that what was presented by the consultant was a good idea and needed to be done as soon as possible for the employees. She did not feel that turning the main entrance area into office space was reasonable because it does not have good ventilation or heating. Councilmember Anderson inquired if the consultant's direction was to come up with a specific plan or was it open-ended. Mr. Baxley replied that they were directed to develop a short-term solution to eliminate some inefficiencies that currently existed with cost being a large factor.
