Engineer would have supervisory
responsibilities for the City Engineer, Public Works Secretary and Engineering Technician. This
position would also act as the backup for the Public Works Director in his/her absence. The
position would report to the Public Works Director. When Ramsey hired its first City Engineer,
the employment agreement stated a City vehicle would be included due to the responsibilities of
being the Public Works Director. Since then the responsibilities have changed to the point that
after work hour vehicle needs have all but been eliminated. Staff had discussed a plan with

Personnel Committee/February 12, 2002

-73-
