Taere are roughly 1,726 acres of <br />vacant lands within the Rural Developing area. Assuming future <br />de,zelopment of a~m-icultural lands (which is the current trend) <br />densities of I umt per 2.5 acres would yield roughly 690 <br />additional residential homing units on private sewer and water <br />systems. <br /> <br />Rural Policy <br />It is the policy of the City of Ramsey to: <br /> <br />1. Enforce a maximum overall density of 1 re:fit per 10 acres in <br /> the Rural Preserve. <br /> <br />· .. 2. Enforce a maximum'overall density of i unit per 2.5 acres in <br /> the Rural Developing area. <br /> <br />Encourage preservation of open space and natural resources <br />beyond what [s required by ordinance or other le~l means <br />through the PUD process. <br /> <br />Allow lot sizes in the Permanent Rural area to be dependent <br />upon the soil conditions of the site and its ability to handle <br />private well and septic systems in accordance with State <br />Rules Section 7080 for on-ske sewage disposal systems. <br />Tkis is not intended to reduce lot sizes below minimum lot <br />size requirements. <br /> <br />Develop, implement and enforce a septic system inspection <br />pr%m-am and wellhead protection program for existing and <br />future private septic systems and wells consistent with <br />Minnesota Rules Chapter 7080. <br /> <br />Encourage environmentally sensitive and open space design <br />and construction techniques that preserve natural resources <br />within private control (i.e. other than public land <br />dedication).~ <br /> <br />7.
