I

Memo

To:

From:

cc:

Date:

Re:

Mayor and CouncilmembersBuilding Official Glyn Huff, Building Inspectors Steve Lutmer, Jerry
Streich

Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik

City Administrator James Norman, TIF Specialist Sean Sullivan, Community Development
Assistant Megan Wald

02/21102

Adopt resolution authorizing application for Commun!ty Development Block Grant Funds

As you may recall, on January 8, 2002, the Ramsey City Council authorized City Staff to submit a
proposal to Anoka County for 2002 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The
proposal is in the amount of $270,000 and would be used towards the acquisition of Lots 1 and 2,
Block 2, of Gateway North Industrial Park 2, for future redevelopment.

The authorization on January 8 was by motion and the County requires this action to be taken in the
form of a resolution. City Staff is requesting that the City Council adopt the enclosed resolution
affirming the proposal for CDBG funds in the amount of $270,000 for elimination of blight.

· The Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) reviews and awards the funds to
selected projects. The work committee of the COunty HRA met on February 20 and is recommending
approval of Ramsey's project. That recommendation will be presented to the full HRA Board on
February 26 for a decision.

-61 -
