Community Development Director Frolik replied that the 12 amendments that are subject to the <br />public heating were on a different timetable. She explained that the application from Edina <br />Development was received after direction was given by the Council on December 11, 2001 <br />pertaining to the other Amendments. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that it seemed that every time a developer wants to change <br />something they want to amend the Comprehensive Plan. Voting No: Cc <br /> <br /> Kurak, Anderson, Hendriksen, <br />and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Case #7: Request to Rezone Pro B-1 Business and B-2 <br /> Business to Ro3U Multi Family Case~f Edma Development, Inc. <br /> <br />'Community Development Director Frolik stated that on Decemb~2001, the City' Council <br />demed a request from Edma Development to rezone the prope ated~:~ the northwest-comer <br />of Alpine Dr. and Hwy. 47 to Multiple Residential to ?for a high-density townhouse <br />development. The Apphcant has submitted a new rezomng md comprehensive plan amendment <br />request along with a sketch plan reflecting a medium density residential development. The <br />rezoning would allow the .applicant to build a townhouse development of up to 7 units per acre. <br />Edina Development has entered into a purchase agreement with property owners Herman and <br />Judi Danholz and Ken and Sharon Niles. Edina Development is requesting to rezone <br />approximately 25 acres from R-1 Residential, B-1 Business, and B-2 Business to R-3U Multi- <br />Family Residential. Property to the north is zoned R-1 Residential, to the south the zoning is B-1, <br />Business and R-1 Single Family. To the east and west, the properties are zoned B-1 and <br />Business. The rezoning would allow the applicant to construct a townhome development. The <br />applicant has submitted a general development plan for the subject property that is proposing to <br />construct 112 townhome units. It was noted that the number of units may change as the <br />proposed project goes through the subdivision and site plan review processes.
