-68- <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he personally experienced the pain of having things <br />stolen and pawned and the records at the pawnshop were so poorly written that they could not <br />determine who pawned it. He questioned what the City can do to protect that from happening to <br />other people. He felt that there needs to be serious consequences if a pawnshop keeps track of <br />the information in a such poor way that they cannot determine who brought the material in. He <br />requested that staff research the issue and report back as to what the penalties are for such action <br />in the City's current ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to introduce <br />Ordinance #02-01-__ amending Chapter 7 Licensing and Permits, Section 7.13 Pawnbrokers, <br />Paragraph 7.13.06 Holding of Property, to increase the number of days a pawn shop has to hold <br />items from five to 30 days. ?~}~ <br /> <br />Motion carried.
