-102- Rich Quail, RYAA, replied that the parks/Utilities Supervisor has indicated that the City needs to have bids for the project by June 2002. Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if they were certain that the cost of the land can be included in the $400,000 requirement. Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that the Parks Utilities Supervisor felt that would be a stretch. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that they were awfully late in the process to be that unsure of something that significant. He stated that staff needs to "nail down" exactly what can be included and what they have to do to get the project back on track. City Admiaistrator Norman explained that due to the b~dget shortfaI1 there is a need for additional transportation funding in the area. The North Metro TH #10 Corridor Coalition is recommending an increase in gas tax by at least $.05 per gallon and is requesting that each City adopt a resolution endorsing that increase. Councilmember Zimmerman stated that he would be in agreement if the gas tax actually went into the road fund. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that if $200 million is going to be spent on transportation in the area he did not think it should be spent on the North Star Corridor, rather it should be spent on improving the highway system.
