months. Anoka-Hennepin Technical College is running short of available parking spaces due to
their recent expansions. The applicant would like to use the property as a parking lot over the
winter months. The College is proposing to keep the buildings up on the property for the time
being and use the site in its current state until the end of May. Given the limited duration that the
College is asking to use the property as a parking lot, staff has no objection at this time. It is
important to point out though, that if the property is to be permanently used as a parking lot, the
College will need to apply for a conditional use permit and comply with all City ordinances,
which include installing a bituminous surface and concrete curbs. At their December 4, 2001
meeting, the Planning Commission recommended that the applicant's request for an Interim Use
Permit to use the property located 6021 Hwy. 10 as a parking lot until May 31, 2002 be
approved.

Councilmember Anderson inq¢i[ed if there was any concern with the underground gasoline tanks
on the property.

Director of Pubhc :~Works/F~re Cglef Kapler replied that the under~ound t~s have been
removed.

Councxlmember Kurak ~nqmred~i~re ~s a:i4~o~ectmn be~een the ~oka He~ep~n College
~d the proposed parking are~if~:~:w~::~he ~act would be for additional traffic onto Highway

Gary Levine, Vice President Anoka
between the two properties without

College, replied that there is connection
#10.

Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the

the storm drainage district.

City Engineer Olson replied yes. _

o a H Technical College to
Mayor Gamec noted that 1-2.5 million was allocated to An k
improve the site.
