COMMISSION BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Case #1: Results of the Special Election Relating to Charter Amendments <br /> <br />Chairperson Vogt and Commissioner Childs commented on the good turnout for the election and <br />the vote. <br /> <br />Commissioner Henke stated that a group of developers called the Ramsey Alliance sent out a lot <br />of mailings promoting their views and she felt that had a lot to do with the turnout and the way <br />the vote went. <br /> <br />Commissioner Swanson stated that he received comments on both sides of the issues. <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer questioned Ms. Henke's referral to a group of developers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Henke stated that the group has development interests. <br /> <br />Commissioner Milless stated that the Ramsey Alliance is a group of people interested in offering <br />citizens correct information. She pointed out that Mr. Hendriksen has his own web site m~der the <br />Ramsey Residents for Responsible Government. She reiterated that the Alliance is not a group a <br />developers but a group of citizens. <br /> <br />Commissioner Henke inquired how the average group of citizens could have afforded all the <br />campaigning. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ebel questioned the same. <br /> <br />Mr. Kiefer stated that he is a member of the Ramsey Alliance Group and he is not a developer. <br />The funding for the campaig-ning came from private citizens. <br /> <br />Commissioner Henke stated that one of the members is the son-in-law of a person who owns <br />huge chunks of land and that is Mr. Bauer. <br /> <br />John Bertzyk, 6001 - 146th Avenue NW, Ramsey, stated that he was another citizen involved in <br />this group. The group got funding from other citizens - no big developing firms -just a lot of <br />people interested in positively working with the City working for the good as a whole. He asked <br />that the group not be labeled as developers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Childs inquired if the Ramsey Alliance targeted certain people. <br /> <br />Mr. Bertzyk responded that they tried to mail to as big a group of people as we could with the <br />funding we had. <br /> <br />Commissioner Henke stated that the Ramsey Alliance Group just cropped up a month before the <br />election. <br /> <br />Mr. Bertzyk informed her that this group has been involved for quite awhile. <br /> <br />Charter Commission/November 29, 2001 <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
