to his membership in the Police Reserve unit and his employment as a paid on-call Fire Fighter, <br />Mr. Schiferli has already completed a physical examination, drug screen, and background <br />checks. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to recommend that the City <br />Council hire Carey Schiferli for the position of regular part-time Community Service Officer <br />with an annualized salary of $27,186 or $13,07 per hour. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Anderson, <br />Hendriksen, and Kurak. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Authorization to Hire Fire Code Enforcement/Building Inspector <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that on December 12, 2000, the City Council <br />authorized staff to begin recruitment for a Fire Code Enforcement/Building Inspector. In <br />accordance with the union contract, staff posted the position internally on January 26, 2001, and <br />four applications were received. Staff recommended the hiring of Jerry Streich for the position <br />of Fire Code Enforcement/Building Inspector at an annual salary of $40,096, with a six-month <br />probation. Mr. Streich has already completed a physical examination, drug screen, and <br />background checks. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Mayor Gamec, to recommend that City <br />Council authorize the hiring of Jerry Streich for Fire Code Enforcement/Building Inspector at an <br />annual salary of $40,096 and six-month probation. Mr. Streich has already completed physical <br />examination, drug screen, and background checks. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: Authorization to Hire Public Works Lead Person <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that on December 12, 2000, the City Council <br />authorized staff to begin recruitment for a Public Works Lead Person. Previously the position <br />has been a temporary position, but was budgeted as a regular full-time position for 2001. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to recommend that the City <br />Council authorize the hiring of John Nelson for the position of Lead Person at an annual salary of <br />$37,315, and a six-month probation. Mr. Nelson has already completed a physical examination, <br />drug screen, and background checks. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Hendriksen, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman.
