CASE # <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF <br /> STATION-AREA LAND USE PLANNING <br /> By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In the winter and spring of 2000, the City requested designation as a commuter rail station for the <br />Northstar Con'idor Development Authority (NCDA). During that same process, the <br />Metropolitan Council requested cities to adopt resolutions expressing a commitment to work <br />collaboratively with the Northstar Corridor Development Authority to achieve land use <br />development patterns that support commuter rail station investments. <br /> <br />At a recent work session held on January 16, 2001, a Metropolitan Council staff member <br />reminded the City that the resolution would need to be adopted to initiate the opportunity site <br />grant awarded to the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Staff has drafted the proposed resolution as requested by the Metropolitan Council and is <br />prepared lot- Council consideration. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends adopting the resolution expressing snpport to prepare a station-area'land use <br />planning collaboration with the Northstar Corridor Development Authority in order to achieve <br />land use development patterns that support commuter rail station investments. <br /> <br />Council Action: ¢~ <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #00-01-XXX expressing support for Northstar Corridor Station Area <br />Land Use Plans. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br /> <br />Copies also distributed to: <br /> <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />CC: 01/23/01 <br /> <br />15' <br /> <br />-213- <br /> <br /> <br />
