The Department
received two significant grants during 2000 that will support projects beginning in January 2001. An
award of $26,000 from Anoka County Children and Families Council will support a school liaison officer
at Ramsey's elementary school, while a grant of more than $45,000 from the Minnesota Department of
Health will fund an aggressive tobacco enforcement and education program in Ramsey.

LOOKING FORWARD

The City of Ramsey has a long history of fiscal conservatism when it comes to the general operations of
the City. The annual report of the Minnesota Tax Payers Association continues to rank the City of
Ramsey in the lowest 10% or lowest 20% in its annual tax levy. Beyond having one of the lowest tax
levies in thc Metropolitm~ Area, the City of Ramsey also continues to have a very low ratio of City staff
members to Ramsey residents.
