During the year 2000, the City of Ramsey had 50 full-time employees and six regular, part-time <br />employees. This figure is up from 1999, when the City functioned with 45 full-time employees and tlm'ee <br />part-time employees. <br /> <br />The 2001. budget will allow the City to maintain an employee compliment of 53 full-time employees and <br />six regular, part-time employees. These new positions to be hired include: <br /> · Clerk II for electronic record retention and management <br /> · Public Works Maintenance worker <br /> · Crime Prevention Specialist <br /> · Cmmnunity Services Officer <br /> · Fire/Building Inspector <br /> · Public Works LeadPerson <br /> · Community Development Intern <br /> · Part-time Facilities Maintenance worker <br /> <br />The demand for public services will continue to increase as the City grows and changes. This will in turn <br />require the City to recruit and hire more people to fill positions that will accommodate the increased <br />expectation for City services. Staff will continue to advise Council as to what new position would benefit <br />the City in meeting the City's long-term goals and needs. <br /> <br />Anticipated chal!enges for the City in year 2001 include: <br />· Completion of the Comprehensive Plan and the corresponding zoning changes. <br />· Facility issues - City Hall expansion, planning and initiation; old Town Hall refurbishing; and <br /> planning for a new community center. <br />· ' Complete Towne Center planning. <br />· Development of a new industrial park - center. <br />· Aggressive trail and park development/maintenance. <br />· Study and possibly implement plan for Towne Center development north of Highway #10. <br />· Construct a connection between Armstrong Boulevard and Variolite (153,'a Avenue and 155 <br /> Boulevard) and rename this new completed east to west roadway, Alpine Drive. <br />· Construct Sunwood Drive between Sunfish Lake Boulevard and County Road 116. <br />· Construct 143''~t Avenue west of County Road 116. <br /> <br />As with the past few years, 2000 was an active year. It is expected that 2001 will be as active, especially <br />since it is anticipated that the Comprehensive Plan will be completed by the end of the year. Hopefully, <br />the Comprehensive Plan will ultimately meet the needs of the Community and the expectations of the <br />City Council, residents and taxpayers of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Questions and other comments regarding this annual report are always welcome and encouraged.
