I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <br /> By: Public Works Staff <br /> <br />CASE #: <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 and discussed the following five <br />cases: <br /> <br />Case #1: Summary for 2000-2001 Snow Removal Season <br /> <br />A general overview of snow removal operations for 2000 - 2001 season was given to the <br />Committee. Several topics were discussed and received Committee input and questions on the <br />following: operations, primary routes, salt usage, sand usage, weather service, equipment <br />performance and a break down of complaints received by residents. <br /> <br />Committe Action: <br /> <br />No action required. <br /> <br />Case #2: Distribution of Wooden Lathes to Residents and Prohibiting the Placement of <br /> Metal Poles During Snowplow Season <br /> <br />The Public Works Department introduced a new program to the Committee allowing the City to <br />provide wooden lathes for easement staking during the snow season and prohibit the use of metal <br />posts. A policy was introduced to the Committee prohibiting the use of metal posts and the <br />ability to remove them. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Recommendation to develop a draft policy and forward to City Attorney for review. <br /> <br />Case #3: Winter Trail Maintenance <br /> <br />The Public Works Department has received several requests from residents with concerns on <br />winter trail maintenance. City staff has asked the Committee to review the current trail <br />maintenance plan and make revisions where necessary. <br /> <br />Input was received regarding animal excrement throughout the City trails.
