I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE By: Public Works Staff CASE #: Background: The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 and discussed the following five cases: Case #1: Summary for 2000-2001 Snow Removal Season A general overview of snow removal operations for 2000 - 2001 season was given to the Committee. Several topics were discussed and received Committee input and questions on the following: operations, primary routes, salt usage, sand usage, weather service, equipment performance and a break down of complaints received by residents. Committe Action: No action required. Case #2: Distribution of Wooden Lathes to Residents and Prohibiting the Placement of Metal Poles During Snowplow Season The Public Works Department introduced a new program to the Committee allowing the City to provide wooden lathes for easement staking during the snow season and prohibit the use of metal posts. A policy was introduced to the Committee prohibiting the use of metal posts and the ability to remove them. Committee Action: Recommendation to develop a draft policy and forward to City Attorney for review. Case #3: Winter Trail Maintenance The Public Works Department has received several requests from residents with concerns on winter trail maintenance. City staff has asked the Committee to review the current trail maintenance plan and make revisions where necessary. Input was received regarding animal excrement throughout the City trails. Staff will bring this issue to the Park and Recreation Commission for further review and direction. Committee Action: Consensus of the Committee was to forward the issue of dog waste onto the Park and Recreation Commission.
